You don't have to live in the lower mainland to receive services from the Deaf Children's Society. We can provide support to you and your family if you live in other parts of British Columbia. The nature of our support will depend on your location. We help you connect with your local service providers and work with them to ensure that you get the best standard of support available.
Our SLPs will consult with your community service providers to ensure that your child's speech and language needs are being met. Support to your family and team may take place in person, by phone, by email, or by video conference where this is possible.
If you want 1:1 sign language instruction, DCS has instructors in various locales in BC. Depending on where you live, we can provide you with in-home instruction, but if great distances must be traveled to provide this, we will offer video conference instruction when possible.
Our team at DCS includes a Teacher of the Deaf, a Social Worker, a School Psychologist, Speech-Language therapists, and numerous staff with exemplary ECE qualifications and specialist certificates. If you need to discuss the educational needs of your child, and would like a consultation, we are available to provide this to you via email or phone, and may also visit your child's preschool or daycare to offer support and guidance.
