Did you know that 90-95% of deaf and hard of hearing children are born to hearing parents? Many of these families choose to introduce multiple languages and communication methods to ensure their child has the best language access and acquisition.
If you're a parent who wants your child to learn ASL but you don’t know the language yourself, it might feel overwhelming. While there are many ASL learning resources, few are designed specifically for hearing families with young deaf children. That's why we created this book – to provide the support and guidance that existing resources may lack. Welcome to the OSD ASL Community Class Website. These are classes taught by OSD’s ASL Specialist. These are non credit level courses and do not count towards professional development hours or continuing education units. They are simply basic courses in conversational American Sign Language. Please register here: https://courses.osd.k12.ok.us.
