CLASSES UNDER CONSTRUCTION Thank you for your interest in our Online Classes. Currently we are working on improving our curriculum and restructuring the online teaching model, therefore we will not be running classes till January 2024.
Thank you for your understanding!
Welcome to DCS's Online Class selections. All classes run for 10 weeks using the Zoom platform.
There are no refunds for classes once registered. All payments are online via PayPal or credit card.
Beginner series: Our beginner series are for those people who are new to American Sign Language or have taken classes in the past and are refreshing their skills. Please read the curriculum content for each section to help determine your level. Participants may be transferred to a different level if the instructor feels they are unable to keep up with the content.
Intermediate series: Participants in this level must be confident and capable of conversing in ASL about a variety of topics. Participants will build their understanding and use of ASL vocabulary and grammar and be interested in further developing and refining their skills and knowledge of the language and culture of ASL and the Deaf community. Participants may be transferred to a different level if the instructor feels they are unable to keep up with the content.
Advanced series: Participants in this level must have a high level of conversational fluency and be interested in learning and using advanced grammatical structures to talk about daily routines, current events, and academic based concepts and vocabulary. Deaf based literature will be used when possible. Participants may be transferred to a different level if the instructor feels they are unable to keep up with the content.
Kids classes: These classes are perfect for hearing or hard of hearing children ages 8-15 years of age wishing to learn ASL to communicate with friends and family or just to learn as an additional language ! UNFORTUNATELY IN THE FALL OF 2022 WE ARE UNABLE TO RUN A KIDS CLASS. PLEASE CHECK BACK IN JANUARY 2023.
Important information:
- Please register with an email address that is NOT a Hotmail, if possible. Hotmail often doesn't work well with Zoom.
- If you are unsure which level to take, sign up for the one that sounds most appropriate. If you need to change, the
teacher will move you one level up or down after the first class.
- Please do not register a child for an adult class before talking to us first!
- Unfortunately we don't have classes for children younger than 8 years old.
- We can only run the advertised class if we have a minimum of 6 participants. If we have less people who sign up we will
let them know that the class won't run and will reimburse the payments.
- In the end of the course we will issue a participation certificate. We are able to do this if you don't miss more than 3
classes in total
