Sign Language Learning

At Deaf Children BC, we emphasize the vital role that sign language plays in fostering communication, connection, and confidence for deaf and hard-of-hearing children. Sign language is more than just a way to communicate—it’s a cornerstone for language development, social interaction, and cultural identity.

Our Sign Language Learning page is designed to support families, educators, and professionals in embracing the beauty and benefits of sign language. Whether you're just beginning your journey or looking to expand your skills, you'll find a wealth of resources, tools, and guidance to help you along the way.

We are proud to feature renowned curricula like TrueWay ASL, ASL at Home, and the Deaf Mentor Curriculum—programs that provide structured, engaging, and culturally enriching approaches to learning and teaching sign language. These resources are tailored to meet the diverse needs of families and educators, ensuring a meaningful and impactful learning experience.

Together, we can empower children to thrive through the visual language that bridges gaps and builds strong foundations for lifelong learning and relationships

ASL ONLINE SESSIONS

Join us for our 8-week fall, winter, and spring community sign language classes specifically tailored for families with deaf and hard-of-hearing children. Led by one of our experienced Sign Language Instructors, these courses are crafted for immediate and extended family members keen on acquiring proficiency in American Sign Language!

INDIVIDUAL FAMILY SIGN LANGUAGE SESSIONS

Deaf Children's Society offers sign language lessons to both families and extended family members. These lessons are tailored to the needs of the participants and are conducted by qualified Deaf instructors. The curriculum begins with basic vocabulary and progresses to more complex communication, including sentences and stories. Lessons can be scheduled weekly or bi-weekly, and options for outreach and online instruction are also available.
